Founded in 1821, the "Casa Divina Provvidenza" Farm, transferred by the Vatican State to the Cosmi family, has returned to its former splendor by focusing on tradition, on the history of a land like Nettuno, and on the rediscovery of indigenous grape varieties—a unique heritage in Lazio for more than two centuries. The Cosmi family have been winegrowers for three generations, devoted to enhancing a wonderful fruit of the earth: the grape.
Following in the footsteps of Pietro, the founder of the company, Fernando and Agnese—through the strength and sacrifice of their work and with the boldness that belongs to true farmers—laid the foundations of what has today become a winery dedicated to producing high-quality wines. Adelaide and Piera, proud to show their love for viticulture, together with Marco Delli Zotti, the winery’s oenologist, dream of bringing as many indigenous varieties as possible back into the limelight, in the name of a Region with centuries of wine history: Lazio.
The soil structure of Nettuno, especially along the coastal area near the sea, is largely composed of a very hard stone called Macco. Magnificent caves formed by this rock are found along the coast and beneath the entire city of Nettuno; they were used as shelters during the war and, going further back in time, as barrel cellars for storing wine. Olive trees and pines frame the vineyard and encircle the farmhouse, bearing witness to our love and respect for the landscape and to the great history to which the Winery belongs.
The company has chosen to honor its tradition by producing quality wines with modern technologies, selecting the best equipment and specializing, thus combining ancient values and modernity to build a business that believes in the future and in work. Today one wing of the farmhouse serves as an occasional residence for the owners, while the rest is dedicated to winemaking, right through to bottling and packaging. Next to the winery is the Company Wine Shop with its tasting room, a destination for tourists and locals alike.
